Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Nothing to see there, Al. Serial offender with white line fever is trying to rip some bloke’s head off. Now if his name was Tom Lynch, instead of Hawkins, and he was wearing yellow and black, that’s a totally different matter.
Precisely

Not Cotch's best game but I didn't think he was as bad as some are saying. If that means others get off the chain & we win so be it.
He'll be important again in the next game no doubt.

As for not good this year? I actually did laugh out loud. He's been amazing for much of the season.

A few of have said for years. Matthew Boyd doesnt tie Chimps shoelaces and he went to half back at the same age and was All Aus.

Easy done. Another 4 elite years there if Chimp wants them and Dimma has the nouse to play him there.
he doesnt run forward and kick 50mtrs like Houli and Short, and he isnt strong overhead like Vlastuin, but he is tough, skilled, and composed. i guess he could be a poor man's Liam Baker, if Baker ever moves upfield.

Get him playing the easy game with numbers around him, plus time and space off a back flank with all the field in front of him and he'll run and deliver forward. He does that now with three blokes hanging off him in the midfield.

When he only needs to half contests overhead will also excel.

His second efforts and one touch ground ball game would be best in the league of any defender. Love Bakes but he doesn't touch Chimp in that or any area. Poor mans Baker....Pffft.

Short, Houli and Bakes are stars but should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Chimp. Different gravy Brodders. Thought you would know that.

To add, imagine him lining up on Connor Rozee this week. Imagine the nerves on that young fella when Chimp puts an elbow in his ribs as they await the bounce.

Would be All Australian. inside 12 months.

pfft. no one is writing him off, but if you can't see that he's playing different this year then you probably think Menadue will make it as an AFL player

Hate to see him go the way of other greats who start playing ugly because their body can't keep up with their mind.

Tonight, for the first time, I started thinking that time has caught up with Chimp. He's had average games before but tonight there was something about his game that really worried me.

Ummm....Your not writing off Chimp off...perhaps re-read your posts...

"Time has caught up" "Body can't keep up"

Predicted his decline. He'll prove you wrong.

The first time I noticed he's getting past his peak. He's not done yet, but he's turning onto the home straight.

Granted things need to be a bit more obvious for you to see them, so I'll cut you some slack on this one.

We need Crouch. Cotchy will end his career playing like this. As much as I love how he is basically as a great white shark who sneaks in and destroys his opponents and is as tough of a player I have seen, it's catching up with him.

Time for a little personal redemption come Friday. .... he'd never say it, but I reckon all the *smile* he took from that 2014 final still burns.....!

Yup. Easy to forget that he was a beautiful and skilful outside mid. If he hadn't had to reinvent himself as a grunty wombat to help Dimma achieve his plans he would be alongside Shedda for elite skill in traffic and clever use of the footy. I would love to see him rediscover this side of his game.

A lot has been written and spoken about Cotch kicking against the wind that day. A friend and his son flew over on the Sunday Morning with Tiger Airlines from the Gold Coast for the game. They get to Adelaide and have a feed and a couple of beers, get to the ground and were surprised to be around a heap of Tiges supporters, beautiful, couple more beers. Anyway come the end of game he has had more then enough of the Tiges and port ferals, in his words"I was *smile* shittie". At the airport he spots Dusty and Rancey sitting away from the main group, he said to his son "I am going over to ask them who's bright idea it was to kick against the wind", son cringes, no dad, but off he goes. "Hey boys who’s *smile* dumb idea was it to kick against a howling wind", Dusty and Rancey both point to Dimma, it was not Cotch's decision at all. So he high tails it to the bar with his teeth still in his head and has more grog but he doesn’t realise Tigers are strict if you are late to the gate, they were 5 minutes late . Anyway after a good blue with the airlines staff they watch the plane fly into the night sky. He said to his son”let’s go and find a motel and get a flight tomorrow”, his son replies “I need to be on that flight dad, I have my Year 12 English Exam tomorrow at 9.00 am". Classic. Lucky he has a very understanding wife.

Ok let's bury this now.
The day Cotchin chose to kick into the wind against port in the final.
Was all Mark William's fault.
He told Cotchin the wind wouldn't be a big issue at the start of the game.

Cotch will make Port players quake in their boots.
Will bring his elite 'A' game on Friday night.
Will be leading his team to a grand final ... and another premiership.
