What’s the bet that if he’s charged and convicted, the next republican president will pardon him

It depends if the Republicans want to get back to the way they were before Trump, or if they have decided to become the MAGA party.

Trump still has enormous support in parts of the US and a lot of his supporters believe the lost election was fraudulent and stolen; any charges brought against Trump have to be thoroughly prepared and clear cut. If he goes to trial and potentially jail I would not be surprised to see more armed insurrection from his devoted followers and when your rights include being legally armed to the teeth this scenario will no doubt result in fatalities.

Fair point, but all of the MAGA losers will claim all charges are fake or evidence has been planted. Even Fox News presenters are going with the "planted" narrative.

I think the deliberate nature of the process is intended to build an ironclad case in the hope that a few of the MAGA supporters become skeptical of Trump or at worst are not so enraged they don't try and storm Federal buildings again. But you're right, reality and Trump supporters have never met.

Like the guy in body armour who threatened FBI agents with death, tried to force his way into FBI HQ, started a shootout with cops and and ended up dead. Much more of that and there'll be no one left to attend MAGA rallies.

The USA 's totally over engineered, multi siloed political and legal systems, aided by further partitioning because of the differing state by state and federal structures, is as much to do with why anything is taking so long. It's an absolute mess. The convoluted, Dis-United States of America. Or, as I often like to refer to it as, Committeemerica. They've got a committee for everything over there, including committees that oversee other committees.

Garland, the Federal Attorney General who signed off on the warrant to seize documents from Crimonald's Mar-a-Lago property has played a beautiful return of serve today. In response to his and his nutcase supporters claiming that the raid was baseless and politically motivated, he's submitted a motion to unseal the warrant and divulge publicly what documents they were seeking to recover and why, and what they actually recovered.

In other words, if its baseless, you won't mind us telling the public what we wanted, why, and what we found.

This'll be good if that motion is supported because you get the feeling that it's big what that criminal has taken out of the White House.

The former president held the world captive while in office with his constant whining and ranting. Like a toddler in a high chair spilling his food while soiling his diaper, Trump has perfected the art of the whine. The far right is screaming "Civil war," and Trump eats it up.

Let them whine. They're as full of sh!t as he is. After five years of threats from Donald Trump, I can tell you one thing — the stray mentally challenged Trumper may be dangerous, but with so many of them facing prison time because of the insurrection, those who are still vaguely aware of reality are no longer so interested in taking up arms for a president who once wished his army generals were more like Hitler's.

In short, Donald Trump's time on stage will soon be done. This week it was reported he is shopping for an attorney to defend him in a criminal case. Good luck. Trump doesn't pay anyone he hires, shoots his mouth off randomly, bullies those who work for him and hasn't, according to several DOJ sources, had an attorney worth a cup of warm p!ss since he drove the Trump bus over Michael Cohen at the beginning of his presidency. Maybe he can get the firm of Dewey Cheatum and Howe to defend him. Those three stooges are the best Trump can hope for.

Conclusion of the above article:

Trump demands attention, and demands an explanation, because he wants to get in front of the coming calamity. But he cannot avoid the reckoning he is due, no matter how much he cries. Garland is a meticulous, smart prosecutor who won't give Trump the fuel he wants to ruin the prosecution. Careful, stealthy and quiet is the perfect way to investigate Trump, who is careless, bombastic, loud and rude.

Remember Trump is a hollow man and we all know how they end: "Not with a bang, but with a whimper."

Trump is whimpering not just because the world is catching up with him but because his lifelong grift is nearing its end. The world is putting him in its rearview mirror.

He sees it. He knows it. He fears it. And ultimately, he can't escape it.

He's done.

In response to the search warrant on Mar-a-Lard-Arse, will Trump be stupid enough to stir up his nuff nuff goons to do something similar to what they did on January 6 at "The Capital" ? Surely he's not that stupid.

Forget about him not being allowed to run for the Presidency again, that's the least of his problems. He's going to end up in the big house, not the White House.

Possible espionage charges ie potential I suppose, that he took highly classified documents to use with foreign countries where he has a “commercial interest” ?

This is gonna make a hell of a miniseries or movie one day, but the fact that it's real and so close to happening is chilling. It's a seriously flawed process when a fascist megalomaniac can be voted out in early November and still hold the keys until late January, especially when he was plotting a coup while votes were still being counted. Incredible thread here by author of a book detailing it all:

Liz Cheney (daughter of D!ck), Republican member of Congress since 2017 who was re-elected in 2020 with 73% of the vote, has lost her primary to a Trumpist. Cheney has been a leading critic of Drumpf and a member of the January 6 commission.

She's still very much a neocon but not on board with the Republican shift to RW delusional f*ckwittery. Talking of a potential presidential run herself. Very popular across the country.

Cheney's demise frightens the living *smile* out of me. The overwhelming majority of the Republican party have for years now supported Trump. They will continue to do so because they believe he is their best chance to regain power. They have no interest in democratic values. The darkest of times in our life time await....
