I have never been on twitter, facebook, Instagram and the like. It's a shame that they condone dishonesty, it explains why the world is in such a mess.
Only about 20 years ago, you only really heard complete drivelling hateful bull crap
1. Riding in a taxi
2. dwelling to long at the bar,
3. if you were getting your house painted and the painters had John Laws on the radio,
4. If you paused too long after saying hello to your looney old aunty who loved Joh Bjeilke Peterson, at a wedding or a funeral.
5. At Victoria park, or
6. if you sat in the wrong spot at smoko
Now days it permeates everything.
I agree, the internet was supposed to be the end of paper and take democratic participation into every mans (sic) home.
But instead, it amplifies lies and *smile* and hate. I even have a strip of 2 inch duct tape across the bottom of my TV screen so I don't have to read the twitter feed on Q&A, or during the cricket. I dont want to see the inane, banal insights of the every man (sic). I dont want the boring, looney old aunty in my lounge room.
My only social media presence is PRE, and I've blocked the main actors (their numbers are very few) on the hateful bull crap stage,
which is the modern day equivalent of sitting with the tolerant, wise old fellas at smoko, and if one of the bitter, hateful blokes happens along, you go to the dunny for a *smile*.
