Welcome Sam Banks

A coach can't say "My players are sh!t." He can say "We played sh!t", or "We're young", etc. But saying the quality of the list is poor would lose the players three weeks into his tenure.

Everyone knows where we're at. The coach doesn't need to say it in a presser.
It'd be class if he did though :mhihi

Apprantly you need to sign new kids to 3 yrs up from 2.
Where fked. The duds will hang around like spider webs
3 years is acceptable to get a read on a youngster especially if they sustain a season ending injury straight up such as Kaleb and Josh have.

5 years however as the RFC have spent on Dow and Hugo is not ideal.

I’ve got no problem with that, but the kid has to commit as well. Not like JHF and Scully who *smile* off after 1 year, and the club can’t do a damn thing about it.

Its not really a blemish at all, let alone a serious one, and I can't see it with Banks, I think he's a bust. But If he'd left him in the seconds, people would be saying play the kids, lets see what he's got etc etc (but in more colourful language). The problem is simple, we don't have enough good players. One thing that Yze has to do, is a very thorough stocktake of the players we do have, especially the young players..
Understand and agree to an extent TS. The well seems dry atm. However, despite the question marks that exist on both, reckon Arthur or Cumbo would have been better options than Banks.

Onfield mix and chemistry is so important. Reckon the poor pressure rating is a reflection of a lack of trust and discord within the playing ranks. Players are not playing for each other. Selecting non competitive players surely adds to this malaise.

I wonder how much of it is older players who just haven't got the fight anymore. They want to win, and put in 85-90%, but it's not enough when things start going against us. Can't be all the young kids, who you'd expect would be hungry. What's our onfield leadership like amongst the players?

Really poor pick by Clarke for mine.

Really poor pick by Clarke for mine.
Here are your comments from 2021. It looks like you were certainly on the Clarke train back then haha. The aim will be to put some weight on him, develop his inside/contested game a bit more, his sideways movement in traffic, and eventually have him play through the middle where at 186cm with very neat foot skills he could be of significant value. He played largely as a mid at junior level before finding a role as a clearance specialist for the Devils off half back, but as Armstrong says, he projects him to be an AFL midfielder.

Yeah. Neat foot skills. Then what what did I say about development needed ?

Go and find the other posts about that development and question marks I had. Here’s a couple to get you started.

I’m betting if I had of been critical about him and Clarke and bagged them both out before playing a single game, you’d have whinged about that too.

April 2022
I’ll watch it later, but how did Banks go ? (Of all of them, he was my most uncertain of our picks.)
Wow. Getting a lot of credit for just half a game before he was a withdrawal. Hope people aren’t over estimating his potential return on investment….

But the point is when Clarke picked him you were very positive, nothing about him being a dud then. He doesn’t get more cracks at it like you have. This is why I laugh at all the hindsight recruiters. You must admit you do look a tad hypocritical.

What did I just say ?

Can’t read ? You must admit, you’re a bit fanboi sensitive.

3 pressure acts for the game..

By comparison Dow had 20.

What was Sam doing out there?

the confused look I saw at a huddle, early in the VFL

was a big red flag.

there's no way hes bludging.

I'd say he doesn't possess the capacity to perform the role.

The club came out publicly last year saying how excited they were about him. Believed he had a big future.
He obviously trains well.
Playing not so much.
How did they get this so wrong?

Who is sensitive and being very defensive haha. You said Banks could be of significant value. Hardly a comment you would make if you thought Clarke had stuffed the pick up back at draft time.

well they're not gonna say

'it turns out he doesn't posses the ability to be of any use to our football club'

are they?
