On the couch

Edit

Here's Browny displaying his outstanding analytical footy brain last night, he's telling everyone what role we were using Garthwaite in on Sunday :rotfl1
You've done yourself proud Browny.

Scroll down to the video.

I notice in the article, they conveniently ignore his constant references to Ryan Garthwaite as the loose in the corridor, when he wasn't even playing.

Love the way Jono played. And he's normally bullish on the Tigers if they're not playing the Lions. Also very mindful that there's probably few ex-AFL players that had as many hits to the head as Jono.

And they kept raising scoring or lack of it. And record lows etc. the game is 20% shorter ffs. Ad 20% to the scores and then you might have something to work with. Infuriatingly shallow analysis.
Last yr, after 9 rule changes to "open the game up & increase scoring" scoring has plummeted, in fact last yr the lowest scoring season in 52 yrs yet where is the coverage on that? Oh that's right, the media got thier hands on the rule book & can't admit they failed....

yeah, he's a good guy. Even if he got the name wrong, the analysis is pretty much right.

We’ve spent the last 3 years kicking chaos balls into the forward line. That ain’t the issue. Teams have worked us out. Flood the defence, nullify our small forward pressure by having extra numbers and then play keepings off. Given we play zone not man on man if they have the skills they can beat us easily. Hardwick hasn’t worked out what to do now Plan A don’t work anymore thats the problem.

We need a new game plan and a level of enthusiasm and fitness would help also
Irrespective of that our issue is ourselves. we are bombing it inside 50 to an opposition player on thier own. Lowering the eyes would help a lot.

Serious question - is there any decent analysis available on TV? i.e. is there a show deep in the recesses somewhere that I'm missing? As well expressed above, all the popular shows have analysis that is so appalling, it cant legitimately be called analysis.

David King is a complete flog but goes somewhere near the territory I'm talking about - they just need a show with legitimate analysts talking footy - probably what On the Couch was supposed to be. I do like Nick Reiwoldt and I used to like Paul Roos in this setting. Browny is there for fun and Lyon is the oldest of old school dinosaurs.

Actually the video series I don't mind is 'The Coach', on AFL.com - at least Ross has some credibility and doesn't talk dribble in this environment.
"The data game" is also good but far too short. Really miss "pure footy" that was the only show worth going out of your way for.

Funny, thought I'd drew attention to this back on #604 on this thread. You must have missed it. Carry on.

I like Ross Lyon on Wednesday's Footy Classified. Only problem is getting Caro and Eddie to shut up long enough for him to talk, but when he takes to the screen to do a detail analysis it is very informative and accurate.
Same. For all of Lyons knockers, he is one of the few coaches (albeit ex) that I stop and listen to. Very insightful.

Yep. Expecting him to be sacked soon.

Ppl like Lyon are wasted on that show. Replace him with Cornes & Eddie & Caro can have a comp each week to see who has the biggest ego. Then i'll switch it over to whatever show Lyon is on doing his analysis.

It's a shame he isn't on Fox where he would have to opportunity to dive a bit deeper. His rebuttal of the criticism of Fyffe at a stoppage the other week was first class. Gave a great insight into structures and the different roles and expectations for different players,

This podcast with Lyon and Barrett is good. Most of the recent episodes have been with Lyon.

Healy is sooking about big Ivan manhandling Nic Nac in the ruck. More or less said that he hopes the umpires start acting on it. Healy is obviously no happy that the Eagles and his love child Nic Nac got beaten

Probably has no problem with NicNat grabbing the back of the other Ruckmans jumper at EVERY boundary throw in though.

I must say I really enjoyed it earlier, when Healy and Lyon were saying that premierships don't define you. I knew they were lying when I saw their lips moving.

Yep and he just highlighted Jack Graham's tackle on Nic Nat as his 'bad' for the round. Apparently no prior opportunity. Here I was thinking it was a superb tackle :)

Since when did incorrect disposal require prior opportunity to be given a free?

poor Healy. He would have been sitting in his high chair. Hand lotion on one side, tissues on the other. Pants around his ankles .
But Nothing. Limp within seconds of the game started.

Why is Healy so fascinated by WC? I've never understood it.
For whatever reason he’s anointed them as the best team in the comp. some ex players in the media get very sooky when their opinions are made look to be incorrect. He also really hates us. I will forever have fond memories of the cross to him and the rest of the Fox panel at half time of the GF. Healy was almost in tears at the prospect that we were going to win.
