Trent Cotchin (Merged)

We have 3 players in our era that will not only make the hall of fame, but deserve legend status:
- Cotchy (3 time premiership captain, Brownlow medallist, AA, 3 x JD medallist, and will play 300+ games).
- Dusty (the GOAT of his era and will play 300+ games).
- Jack (3 x flags, 3 x Colemans, 3 x AA’s, 2 x JD medallist, 300+ games).

Not at all, if he plays midfield as is well.

If he only plays second string midfield minutes though then he will have to be a genuine option forward or back and I think that's a big challenge, but if anyone can do it, it's him.
 
Are we serious? We are flighting now because flogger Cornes reckons Cotchin isn't best 22.
Cotchin is the leader of this club, if he isn't best 22 then we must be planning for the next 3 flags by 2030.

His being granted life membership has started the salt flowing, all of them ignoring the fact that a player who has 300 official games on their record is automatically given AFL life membership.
 
Couldn't be a better possible scenario for the club than to be able to start gently easing the load on a couple of older club champions like Cotch, Dusty n even the Prestygiocamo.
Bringing into the midfield the talent of Tarantino n Grasshopper at peak age, along with Bolton, means that we've got the luxury of continuously rotating the old farts through a bit of mid, forward, bench game after game. Helps keep them fresh n ensures minimal probability of over loading them.
Sonz, Ross, Short, Graham will also get their share of midfield time, so that's a core of ten blokes more than capable of mix n match through mid to forward and without even considering other up n coming youngsters, current wingers or running backs that flow up n down the ground.

You don't lose your football smarts.
As for his kicking for goal.
Now that he doesn't have to do the heavy lifting in the midfield he may actually be less fatigued.

As i posted elsewhere: Yep, at worst he is our no4 mid. That still gives him plenty of time in the centre square, even before injuries hit. He will play plenty mid, and by the looks of it some forward. Maybe the end will come suddenly, but based on the evidence of 2022, there is no reason to think Cotch wont still be an integral part of our next premiership, and maybe even 2024.

Dunstall isn't a legend so Riewoldt has no chance.

Dustin would be the only player of our team in the conversation I would think, he and Buddy Franklin from this era.

Yep, the Chimp is a champion and will show those doubting him that he can play anywhere, and just how good he still is.

Great player, part of one of the greatest teams of all time, if not the greatest. And they kicked cricket scores. I've always thought if he and Plugger had played for each other's teams instead, Dunstall would have a few hundred goals less than he does, and Plugger would be well over 1500. In that Hawthorn side he would have smashed Pratt/Hudson's season record and gone close to kicking 200 if he played a full season in say 1988/89. He might have kicked 20 in a match.

Maybe Dunstall is underrated because he was so damn efficient? And good at most things?

Plugger didn't have any competition at the Aints. But yeh, he would have liked the volume and quality of ball that Dunstall got....
