Game Day vs Western Bulldogs

Let's be honest. With the ladder sorting itself out, we've beaten 15th,16th,17th and Port who've beaten 15th,17th,18th. We're looking like a middle of the road team this year. Top 4 very unlikely, our realistic goal is making the top 8. Our game plan no longer stacks up which exposes the very poor disposal of too many of our players.

Agree. And our losses have been floggings, and we don’t win big so our % will be an issue as well.

Midfield ain’t good enough. General skills ain’t good enough.

We are middle of the road.

That's definitely us now.

Had to go out so couldn’t watch the game; in hindsight that’s probably a good thing.

A disappointing result but not that surprising. We always struggle against the Dogs for some reason. We’ve beaten them once since 2013 and in reality we should’ve lost that as well. The thing that really concerns me is the margins in our losses. We are falling away very badly and getting smashed. Out percentage is pathetic.

Hopefully this is lie the Saints game in 2017. Too bad to be true. Just move on to next week. Freo in Perth will be tough but if we are at our best we can win.

Dogs have a good midfield. So do pies and Giants. All have flogged us.

It all starts in the middle and our mids either don’t get enough of the ball, or those that do butcher it.

Got trashed in the mid field which exposed the back line in the air. Up front well Lynchpin once the ball hits the deck write him off.

Tend to agree with this.
Tigers certainly aren't playing like a top four side.
In fact, they are at best a middle rung team the way they are playing.
Injuries have created some real difficulties and you can never really cover the loss of class/champion players.
Coaching staff probably has to come with a different game style to accommodate and better utilise the types of players at the team's disposal.

A must for 2020.

In reality we have beaten four pretty average teams and been put to the sword in the other three games. It's amazing how quickly you can fall off the cliff with injuries and poor form.

This will be the best game they will play all year, I can assure you.
Tonight we lost to a very ordinary side!

Not sure that's terribly fair. It was 11 of their premiership players v 14 of ours, and their support cast was stronger - Naughton, English, Smith, Wallis, Crozier, Young. Even Trengove had a good game on Lynch.

Grimes didn't look AA tonight unfortunately

McNaughton isnt a player grimes would usually play on.
grimes would smash 90% of the players in the comp, but not tall/jumping forwards

What can you say? A woeful performance tonight.

A lot of people saying we will learn from this but I have my doubts, what we need to learn is that we need to win more centre clearances and we need a far better setup in the forward line.

We are getting beaten way too often in the middle. Nank's hitouts were going straight to Footscray players. Our mids were being consistently beaten in contested possessions. Their midfield possessions gave them quality delivery into their forward line, ours did the opposite.

We get it into our forward line and there is no structure. Lynch has 4 players hanging off him and yet the Dogs had players free and we didn't. WTF. Seemed to be panic stations down forward all night and no system at all. Some strategy up forward is sorely needed.

The above are long term issues we need to address. On the night our pressure was down and we just didn't seem to come to play, that's quickly fixable.

We need to address that not only is the 2017 system or gameplan in need of tweaking, we also seem incapable of playing at that level at the moment. Need to rethink some things. I think we really do miss Cotchin's leadership and the contested beast in the middle that he is, but I also think there are deeper problems that go beyond the injuries.

Not exactly panic stations but some reconsideration of how we can be more competitive in the middle and more organised up forward is sorely needed.

Have to wonder how much the IP taken away by Lloyd contributed to the ease of the win. Might find out more next week with Freo/Conca.

Dogs made no changes after losing to Freo, which suggests their three-goal loss over there wasn't a bad performance.

We have been the Doggies Bitches for the last 10 years.

*before the game tonight, they showed the wins the 2 sides have had against each other it was something like 87-81 our way.
I remember in the early 80’s We were a massive 30 games clear
