I've seen 4 clips of Morabito, more than I can find for any of the others.

But they are not indicative of the player, I can assure you. I had to laugh when I finally saw those clips. His kicking is much better than what you see in them. Put it down to the conspiracy theory, or simply the fact that the ABC TV coverage of the WAFL relies on only a few cameras. I don't know, but the Dockers and Eagles rate him highly.

I have seen him play at WAFL level, and he looks a good type.

However, we shouldn't pick him. He apparently desperately wants to stay in WA, and has been doing everything to suggest as much without crossing the line of draft tampering. Not for us.

I confess to have witnessed this footage so I'll trust in those with the first hand observation. One question for you Streaker, where do you see Morabito playing in the long run? Scooper mentioned he might eventually make a good CHB, could this be the position he's seemingly being groomed for by those in the west? If so, I can understand all the smoke and mirrors stuff at the national carnival, seems like there could well be a case of insider trading playing out.

I take your word for it Streak, others have said the same that the videos don't represent his true abilities. Is interesting though that he only averaged 16 possessions or so considering he's a midfielder. Any logical explanations for that? Was he injured during games maybe?

I think somewhere on the HB line is going to be his eventual spot. The guy is tailor made to be a rebounding defender, and he has the size to be a CHB. Fantastic speed for a big guy, and he is already nicely developed in the upper body, and has good leg/hip strength. Nice hands as well, can grab it.

IMO his kicking skills are better than many have been led to believe. He is a good kick on both feet, and can kick it 50-60m quite easily. The footage I have seen on the net of his kicking is not that indicative. From what I have seen, he gets good penetration with his kicks. Good athlete as well, which makes him a great HB line prospect.

My three knocks on him are his willingness to leave WA, his appetite for the physical stuff and his decision making.

If we are looking for a taller player with our 1st round pick, then Morabito has to be it. But I would be a bit concerned that he might suffer from homesickness. We need to look at this very carefully. IMO, he has been trying to make sure he stays in WA, and while that would suit the WA clubs, I don't think they have been heavily involved in pushing this. I have no real evidence, but I think the player himself has been working towards this.

I would also like to see him hit the packs a bit harder. He wins his share of contested footy, but IMO he has the size to do more damage at pack contests. An issue that would need to be addressed if we saw him as a future CHB. Having said that, I always felt that way about Glen Jakovich, and look how he turned out.

Decision making can be a little suspect at times when looking for short options. He looks much more comfortable looking for longer options, another trait that would help him on the half back line.

Comparisons with Jakovich are interesting. Similar height (Mora 192cm, Jako 193) but Jako had 10 kgs on him. Slight worry with Morabito is that if he does bulk up, will that reduce his pace?

He did have some hamstring and quad problems during the season.

But it is a good point, for a midfielder he didn't win a lot of the ball, although he won his fair share of contested ball. I don't think injury was the reason for the amount of footy he was getting. When I saw him play at senior WAFL level, he seemed to lack support. On occasions he even seemed overawed.

I honestly don't see him being a midfielder in the AFL because he doesn't seem to naturally fit that role. You know how some guys are born ball magnets? Well from what I have seen, Morabito is not one of those guys. If he is going to play in the midfield, he will be the type of player who hurts the opposition with 18 very good posessions rather than 25-30 good possesions.

I think he is another Shannon Hurn type player, lighter but taller and quicker.

Be interesting to see how many knockers have seen Morabito play bar the one televised game this year to come up with comments like him being outside & introverted.

lots of hearsay floatin on here ILO.

He has things to improve upon for sure but make no mistake he could end up numero uno from this draft. Easily.

At worst a guy that will end up his size, strength, speed & ability will still be a very dangerous footballer.

In this day and age, if you can not dispose of the ball, you will not be on the park. I would not be surprised if he is around for a 2nd round pick.

How many times have you seen him play to get this "nailed on verdict" of his disposal of the footy TigersYellowandblack?

Another youtube highlight watcher by chance.

Trust Leysy he will NOT go outside the top 4.

Will take any bet on that.

Money for old rope. The Dockers want him badly. And the Eagles will take him if he somehow happens to slip to 5.

Eagles have 7, but I agree, he will go at no later than number 4 to Fremantle. Actually pencil him in now for that position. I think the first 4 have been decided already.

Martins performance at draft camp was great but made to look even more impressive because of the absence of Morabito. Both will be very very good but those that know Morabito best seem to have no doubt as to what they should do. I'd be happy with either and neither will be a punt but am beginning to sway towards a WA quady, Morabito, Black, Winmar (then Daw) and Wanganeen.

TB does the club know whether the Swan were after Morabito or Martin when they tried to get to #3?

Mate you've been such a good sauce of information over the last few weeks I just presumed that you were Craig Cameron's housemate, or at least had bugged his mobile phone

Well he hasn't spoken about anything to do with that yet on his mobile........ ;)

The formline is very good through WA Boys coming from WAFL football to the AFL.

I'll say it again, playing against men in the WAFL /SANFL is the equitant of a season in the VFL. You basically get a second year player. The pace is quicker but just being used to the big bodies is a huge advantage.

Add that with a mature body (190 cm, 90kg) after playing against men and you just about have a prospect ready to play 20 games in the first year. And 200 games of AFL football. Chuck in blistering pace & a natural ability to do the team things in football and I cannot understand the amount of dislike for Morabito on these boards.

He ticks every box and anyone who thinks otherwise is ignoring the facts.

We don't need the player who will have the best first year, we need the better player long-term. Maybe people on here are dissing Morabito because our foot skills are the worst in the AFL by a long way, we need elite kickers. Is Morabito an elite kick? From what I've seen and read he's not or at least a fair way off Martin. We only have 3-4 players who rotate through the middle that you can trust to repeatedly hit their targets and one is over 30.
