Pick 21 St Kilda - Jarrod Garlett - Mid/FWD, 177cm, 73kg, South Fremantle

Garlett's one of my favourite players in this draft. A genuine line breaker with good skills and a streak of creative football genius. Has a big enough tank to be that Brad Hill type and make an immediate impact for the Saints next year.

Pick 22 St Kilda - Reece McKenzie - FWD/Ruck, 196cm, 100kg, Northern Knights

Tall forward with a very good overhead mark, a good set shot and extreme speed off the mark (equal second in 20m sprints with 2.87sec) - projects well as a lead up forward and an excellent protege for Riewoldt. Can pinch hit in the ruck too so makes a good replacement for Stanley.
Damn you Stylo!!!

I imagine there's plenty of that feeling from actual recruiters on draft day. ;D

Listening to the latest Talking Tigers podcasts it seems that at least for the first round the clubs have a pretty good idea of who is taking who.

We at North would like to welcome with pick 25

Corey Ellis

Position: Midfielder/defender
Height: 185 cm, Weight: 76 kg, DOB: 09/10/1996
Club: Western Jets

The type of player who just makes things happen, Corey Ellis is a productive and busy midfielder who can really have a say in the outcome of a game. Ellis can really hit some tackles and win his own inside ball: however, he’s very much a playmaker. His marking around the ground is superb, as is the way he uses the ball going inside 50. He is a quality kick on both sides of his body, which is rare for a left footer. He has a great mix of inside and outside capabilities.

Pick 26: Western Bulldogs – Connor Menadue

Position: Midfielder/forward
Height: 188 cm, Weight: 69 kg, DOB: 19/09/1996
Club: Western Jets

An explosive yet nimble midfielder, don’t let Connor Menadue’s light frame fool you into thinking he isn’t up to the rigours of AFL football. Averaging 18 disposals for the Western Jets Menadue’s ability to cut open a game with his speed and penetrating kick makes him an exciting prospect for a club that’s looking for pace in their midfield. Although on the skinny side, Menadue cracks in hard when it comes to tackling, and has a knack for kicking goals on the run. He takes the game on, rating among the best performed for handball receives, while also making good decisions. With the ability to use the ball by both hand and foot, He slips through congestion with his breakaway speed and loves to run and carry up a wing, not too dissimilar to Hawthorn’s Isaac Smith. I rate him highly particularly due to his agility, game awareness, and clean hands. Named best on ground in the Jets’ elimination loss, Menadue almost willed the Jets over the line off his own boot, accruing 27 disposals at 87 per cent efficiency, 18 handball receives and two goals.

With the talent that the Doggies have on the inside Menadue is the exact type of player to give them the line breaking pace they need, Extremely happy with Connor at this selection and truly believe that he is a 1st round quality player and bargain at #26

Pick 27: Western Bulldogs - Tom Lamb

Position: Forward/midfielder
Height: 192 cm, Weight: 83 kg, DOB: 19/10/1996
Club: Dandenong Stingrays

The Doggies are well on their way & with an exciting midfield and the recruitment of Tom Boyd as well as having Stringer up foward Tom Lamb is the perfect player to compliment the doggies foward line.

Lamb has an enormous tank and fantastic speed for a KPP and is excellent below his knees, He is 1 of these players that are capable of kicking 6-7 goals and creating space for his team mates - Things just happen when Tom is around the ball and playing up fowards has that Jack Riewoldt aura about him, He does have issue's and really needs to work on his attention during games and learn that its not all about tom lamb and sometimes do the team thing and sacrafice certain aspects of his game

But overall - He will be a very very good player for the Doggies

With Pick 29 Gold Coast Suns Select Dean Gore From The Sturt FC 183cm 86kg

Dean is a midfielder who reads the game well and strong in contests. His speed and elite endurance will make him a very good player for us at The Suns

#31 - Hawthorn
Alex Neal-Bullen (SA – Mid)
Height: 182cm, Weight: 77kg, DOB: 09/01/1996

Neal-Bullen’s best work is on the inside. His ability to win the contested ball is elite as is both his distribution by hand and ability to burst away from the contest. He also possesses great footy smarts on the inside; his ability to read the tap is excellent, his positioning and ability to find space where there shouldn’t be any is brilliant and his ability to put others into space is fantastic.

While his inside work is excellent, Neal-Bullen also excels in other areas. He’s versatile, having played off half back and through the middle in the SANFL and also rested forward in the championships. When forward he doesn’t look out of place, because of his positioning and ability to read the game

pick 32: WCE- Jordan Cunico
184cm, 72kg

a speedy runner who likes to kick long and kick goals, Cunico will love the wide open spaces at Subi and will complement the inside mids already at the Weagles, once he adds to his light frame.

Pick 33. Richmond - Peter Bampton (Norwood)
182cm, 83 kg
Midfielder

Peter Bampton is a brute of a lad, his imposing frame has seen him debut in the SANFL as a 17 year old and do exceptionally well for such a raw teenager. This year he took his game to the next level, playing a vital role in Norwood's midfield and helping his club establish themselves at the top of the table. It was unfortunate for Bampton that he sustained an ankle injury in round 7 because he had just posted a rising star nomination a few weeks prior and was starting to draw some headlines as a potential first round selection. He subsequently missed the u/18 carnival and has seemingly drifted out of recruiters thinking. Personally I think he's a bargain at this point in the draft and believe he's AFL ready, perhaps good enough to replicate the feats of Luke Dunstan in his debut season.

Turning to his football ability, Bampton is a contested ball winning specialist, he hits packs like a raging bull and goes harder and fiercer than most around him. His work off the ball is also packed with brutality, those who are unfortunate enough to be in his path inevitably feel the pain, he's what I consider the perfect player to take into a hotly contested finals campaign. His kicking and general ball use is also greatly underrated and despite appearing like a relic of the 80's, his disposal is statistically elite, particularly when comparing him to other inside players. In his 7 games for Norwood his kicking efficiency was 81% and his disposal efficiency 85%, these are rare numbers indeed and bode well for a fruitful AFL career.

Looking ahead to 2015 and beyond, I predict Bampton will continue to rack up 20 possessions a game and will provide excellent depth for a burgeoning midfield. I also predict significant improvement in his numbers as he learns to gather more touches on the outside and in general play. His tank is already formidable having run a 15.3 beep test earlier in the year and his body needs very little additional strength and conditioning. Some say his upside is limited but I beg to differ, I look at similar inside specialists and can see an upward trend from season to season. For a player comparison he has all the hallmarks of a Tom Liberatore or Nathan Jones, footballers who tend to avoid the headlines but who's contributions cannot be underestimated.

Richmond's strategy of going for speed early seems to have paid off with a player of Bampton's quality finding his way to pick 33. The club now feels it has addressed two glaring deficiencies and believes it has secured two players who can make a positive contribution in 2015.

Pick 34. Fremantle

Edward Vickers-Willis (VIC – Mid/Def)
Height: 190cm, Weight: 82kg, DOB: 28/03/1996
Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons

Skillz isn't around to write the bio but I certainly rate the lad, AA player with an 80% DE and a player who continues to improve. Will probably find himself on a flank early in his career but that's not to downplay his ability, he's extremely polished and stands a good chance of making the grade. Freo should be stoked snaring such quality this late in the draft.

Pick 35 Adelaide

Oleg Markov (187cm midfielder) North Adelaide

With some they liked already off the board, the Crows are taking a bit of a punt here as Markov carried some injuries last year and doesn't have a lot of exposed form but looks to me he could develop into a fine player likened by some to be a similar type to Hoskin-Elliot.
The son of a pole-vaulter, markov has tremendous athleticism and tested very well at the combine particular in the speed tests.
His disposal skills look solid and we think this local lad has plenty of upside.

I wonder if he is the son of Rob Vickers-Willis.
