No reason whatsoever to demand people travelling from WA go into quarantine. The question in regards Stack is if the 16 days turns into 3 months. With the NSW border control situation returning, you’d just have to laugh if Victoria mandates a 14-day hotel quarantine for WA flights by the time Sydney gets out.
A bit of balance Ezy, Stacky could really play in his first year. He was nothing short of a marvel when he first hit the scene. Tapered a bit as the season went on & got dropped before injury.Sydney Stack can really play. He has superb balance and vision and decision making with the ball in hand.
maybe thats the solution? we keep a ball in his hand at all times.
This kid has the football world at his feet. He's a triple premiership RFC immortal just waiting to happen.
Swapping the KFC for Vanilla Slices would not help.Syd arrived at the club behind in his fitness. He worked his arse off, spewing all over the place. He could do it again.
Question is - will he?
If the club keep him (I think they will), they should insist on some very strong non-negotiables. Even put him with a Minder.
Maybe he could live a Balmy's place? That would be scary to Syd

His excellent start was certainly not so obvious in 2020 for whatever reasons. In many games he was a shadow of himself from the previous year.
The Dusty comparisons are interesting because even when Martin was slightly astray, his on field output was still at a high standard.
Can Sydney recapture the genius he showed in his first season? I think not unless he absolutely commits to it & that is a very big if.
No you don't forget but at AFL level you can drop away quickly if you're not fit enough as we clearly witnessed last year. You dont forget how to play footy.
Especially that innate twitch footy stackman plays.
Just finished the marlion book in tears.
He makes reference to stackman being 'uncle syd' to his kids.
Its worth nothing, but i will back our stackman till the end
I hope that Syd is not feeling sorry for himself, and is doing some reflecting. After reading Marlion’s story, I came to the conclusion that what Syd needs is a rock; someone like Marlion’s Jess. That extra motivation to keep hm making the smart decisions and working hard for them as much as himself.
Patronising, rude and doesn’t answer the question.U would have to be a fool to not know, what's nasty is drunken violence, not calling it out, have a think about it.
Betts was a gun a star, fantastic footballer and from all reports a very very good bloke.I noticed that Eddie Betts' advice for Sydney last year was to work hard. On twitter, Eddie often seems to attribute success with hard work, unlike the typical commentators who praise Eddie's "magical" innate ability to perform without effort.
The thing about being more talented is everyone else is less talented than you, which means of course they need to work harder than you. By extension, it's okay for you to get away with not doing as much as them, because when you're the most talented, you can work half as hard and still be better than others. That's the inescapable logic of innate ability vs hard work.
It's hard to get people like that to truly believe in hard work, but if it does all click internally, you can end up with a model of greatness.
It doesn't help that the more Sydney stuffs up, the more surrounding commentary fixates on his innate talent...
I liked your post. But what responsibility does the club bear for Ben Cousins' current circumstances after Hardwick pretty much tapped him on the shoulder?*He signed up for it.* So did we. When a club drafts a young man, particularly one from a background such as Syd's, it takes on a responsibility for that young man. A club that touts its culture and 'celebration' of everyone for who they are, warts and all, is doubly responsible lest it be accused of not standing for what it stands for.
Ben Cousins is responsible for Ben Cousins' current circumstances, but I'm of the view that once a Richmond man, always a Richmond man, and I hope we can/are help(ing) him in some way.I liked your post. We're a football club offering employment for footballers. Yes we mentor them and attempt to help them grow as people and we celebrate successes in that space. No doubt we'll continue to do it with Stack if he stays on the list, but I'm not sure it should have any bearing on the decision.
Maybe the AFL just isn't for him, in which case there's no point forcing it. It's what Stack and the club need to work out. Maybe even take the kid gloves off and let Stack make all the running.Ben Cousins is responsible for Ben Cousins' current circumstances, but I'm of the view that once a Richmond man, always a Richmond man, and I hope we can/are help(ing) him in some way.
As far as I know, alcohol is the only substance Sydney's used, which I bet can't be said for others on our list. He is contracted. My point is we gave him that contract with eyes open. At the least we should see it out, provided of course he behaves.
If I stepped out of a DeLorean and told you I'd just seen Stack win the Norm Smith Medal, you wouldn't be surprised. Let's do all we can to ensure that's with us.
Yep, he's got to make the choice. No one can force him to do it. Totally up to him now. If he decides it's still for him then give him all the support he needs to make it. If he decides it's not for him or doesn't make an effort then wave him goodbye.Maybe the AFL just isn't for him, in which case there's no point forcing it. Ability-wise, Walsh is the much more conventional player who arrived with AFL-level running ability. Stack is the rare bird. His ability to see the play ahead of him and always look to move the ball forward is the very essence of the way we play. Imagine this with a tank!Stack ahead of Walsh? Yeah nah. Let's keep both feet on earth.
