WEEK 1 FINALS 2021

Truckies from NSW. NSW contact tracing didn't tell WA. The company told WA after test results. Truck drove through Vic and SA.

And two of them came in last years finals series alone.

It’s not just the losses but how they lose. They are generally getting thumped too.

It’s Scott’s possession and control game plan which he has persisted with for a decade but has consistently been found wanting in September (and October).
Even SHocking couldn't change this with all his prejudiced rule changes to enable their so 'deserved' success along with allowing the MRP to let Duckwood and Shove off as many high elbows or sling-and-thump into the ground tackles as required (fines are a rort).

Who says umps don't look at the free kick count at half time. 1st half 20-8 to geel. 2nd half 4-12
It's so blatantly obvious! I'm simply amazed that anyone doubts how the umpiring is rigged by the AFL to influence, manipulate or massage results e.g. reduce blow-outs (bad for business in numerous ways) or contrive closer contests to ensure TV ratings etc.

Hawthorn must be kicking themselves.
Picked up Wingard and gave port Bulters and The Arrow.
And with the own pick got Rozzee.
The year after they got Bergmann and then Georgiadis.
Fingers crossed we end up with something similar with this years truck load of picks
You forgot to include the Dorks sent them Burton in the trade for Wingard too I believe. Bloody good player: brave, strong marking and kicking - once he overcame injuries.

He said it 10 times and nearly on every occasion the umipre was right there.
How about Bews holding the ball off Butlers. If that was us it wouldve been a 100 metre penalty
I never listen to anything Brayshaw says if I can avoid it. But the umps allowing players to get away with this like Bews did, just infuriates me.

The umpiring really was putrid.

Early in the game I saw a Port player grabbed high, it was only for a moment, but it was clearly high. No free. I thought, ok, finals, they're umpiring a bit different, less free kicks etc. Maybe 1 or 2 minutes later, same thing happens, this time to a Geelong player - you won't be surprised the free was paid.

A bit later, maybe second quarter, a Port player has picked up the ball and has his head down. The Geelong player comes from front on and tackles. Free kick HTB. Same thing happens to Danger a few minutes later, free kick, but this time it is high contact and goes to Geelong.

They were paying everything to Geelong and nothing to Port for pretty much the whole first half. You could not draw any conclusion except that the 2 teams were being umpired differently.

Evened it up in the second half, after giving one team a leg up early in the game. I simply don't believe they weren't told the free kick stats at half time, it was just too obvious.

I watch the umpiring decisions closely too, DS, and agree with your comments. But I get frustrated by the lack of enough replays and slomos from the CH. 7 coverage because there's many I'd like to analyse more.

But this was exactly my conclusion too. Port play so much like us (credit to Hinkley here as the first and earliest coach to adopt our game-style ahead of the pack but has added a few more refined kicks and blessed with power mids) and so they apply intense pressure, lots of tackling so sometimes get over-pinged for going a bit high (just like us). So you could argue several of these were fair calls. But then you saw the Sooks do the same thing and no penalty.
Caught, ID, HRB but no free. So many one-sided, inconsistent decisions.

Throws OK by the moggs (there was a really obvious one eventually called against one of 'the protected species' #, Dangerflog, where it was like on a delay. Could almost hear the ump thinking, ' I suppose everyone in the whole world saw that, I probably have to pay one against Paddylove.' Took over a second to pay).
You have to ask, was the even-up only implemented once it was clear there was no hope for a Ctas' comeback?

Quite appalling but typical of AFL's preferential treatment in all spheres of this club.

Q: Who kicked 5 goals in the 2017 qualifying final, 6 in the 2018 elimination final, 7 in the 2019 qualifying final, 5 in the 2020 qualifying final, and 5 in the 2021 qualifying final?

A: (you know it's coming) Geelong.

So now the Pussies play either the Ducks or Giants........but at their Sleepy Hollow Dump? Pricky will be begging to Dopey Dan....
I was quite annoyed when I saw this. Tried to let it go, after all, a great night as loving the result with Moggies possibly going to crash and burn again.

But, much as I weighed it up, I just find it really irritating that you had to throw in your particular petty political bias into a fun footy thread on PRE. So, nah, you're fair game then.

Dan probably has more brain cells and character/integrity in his left buttock than you have in your thick-head. Maybe you're another Murdoch media moron or a big fan of GodAlmighty Gullible Gladys who has managed to export the Delta variant from her poxy 'gold standard state' (yer you fell for that 100% probably, right?) throughout Australia and all the way to NZ, killing numerous more undeserving people or damaging their health. Of course, it'd be no issue for you if not just the oldies die off now, but much younger people, or the kids get sick.

But she and her happy-clapper PM Scomos and mates are not satisfied yet, just succeeded in spreading it into WA via more of their truckies. After doing the same thing to Vic, you'd think they might have learnt something.

But nah! That's what I call far more than unbelievably dopey ... try criminally irresponsible. So if you are not in NSW, you sure sound like you belong there. Try hitch-hiking on a truck with those 'gold standard state' plates.

Was Tigerforce onboard the truck? Gladys sent him probably. Said it'd be all good and those ALP states should share the load of carrying Delta to every Aussie possible. He utterly believes everything she says, of course. Why wouldn't you?

Today I was reminded of why last year's GF was such a wondrous event.
The next best thing to seeing Richmond do well in finals is seeing Geelong lose them.
It combined the two.

love the salt coming out of Geelong.

Chris Scott reckons it was uncharacteristic. what could go wrong did go wrong.

I've got some free advice for him - pressure kills in finals. Geelong's structured model of play wilts like hot butter in the face of manic pressure and chaotic movement.

Port look a lot like us.

Geelong have found another dose of kryptonite in their quest for glory. And Port are every bit as hungry as we were in 2017.

I tipped port for flag a while back.
Kenny has them peaking at right time and virrually a full list to choose from.

SO Jezza does the usual get-frustrated-cause-its-not-downhill-skiing and clothes Iines a bloke

BT (immediately, almost before the bloke hit the ground): that's fair, in the course of play. he didn't take his eyes off the ball. fair. no problem. in the contest

pause

Carey: He took his eyes off the ball and was looking at the bloke. Its a free kick at least.

BT: and the ball is on the wing, neither attack nor defence, Port Adelaide up by 9

Geelong are absolutely chocces wth frontrunners; Danger, Hawkins, Guthrie, Blicavs and then they recruited three classic downhill blokes; Smith, Rohan and Jezza. and then theres a heap of blokes that cant even really ski on any terrain; Myers, Dalhaus, Atkins, Bews, kolojazzknee, Parfitt, Stanley

its like their raison d'être,

is to contend for minor premierships.

(whistles for the rest of the weekend). we've got the power to win, we'll never give in, C'mon Port Adelaide aggression

Port look like us except they have no champion key forwards or champion defenders or GOATs. What they have is elite kicks all over the park, which we've never had.

Burton and Bonner are softer than Jayden Short, but they're better kicks. McKenzie and Whatshisname the skipper are 6'2 key defenders but Aliir saves their arses and McKenzie has a cannon of a leg. Houston's a great kick, Amon's a great kick, Marshall's a great kick, so are Georgiades, Motlop, Rozee, Gray and Fantasia. None of them are bad kicks, at least not as diabolical as George, or KMac and Marlion at times.

Like us, they play with speed and pressure, but they move the ball streets better by foot.
