Worst case all contracts null and void , player lists reduced and a lower tpp for 2021 and beyond , sign who you can , rest go into fa pool
There is going to be some serious resetting within the AFL due to lack of money for next few years. Reduced football departments - senior coach, 2-3 assistants, 1 fitness guy, 1-2 full time recruiters. Players contracts will be either declared null void or they will receive the same % of the new TPP as they are currently on. Lists will be reduced. Like everything else it’s going to be carnage.

If Richmond, Collingwood, West Coast et al can't survive this then the competition is screwed.
We are in a great position but it just shows how fast something can go wrong and how, in the way the world is run, it doesn't take long for things to collapse. In professional sport this is probably even more the case as clubs will push as hard as they can to get the players they think can win, that means going right to the edge of what they can afford.
There could be carnage. I can't see them merging with the new clubs but I can see something like the Tasmanian Kangaroos (especially given the prospect of a government subsidy from Tassie).

Let's see if another Super League scenario comes up with a deal that the stronger clubs can't refuse. Tigers, Woods, Eagles, Swans, Crows, Blues, Hawks, Dons and four more regional clubs like Lions and maybe GWS, Cats and Tassie.
To send an AFLW team interstate to play cost the club $50k a game . Not a good business model considering no return for investment.
. RFC have let go all AFLW staff yesterday you will find . Fair chance , they won’t be back . Question where does the $50k come from and the millions needed by each club for the AFLW season ? You don’t have to tell me , I will tell you . The members and revenue raised through RFC

Be interesting to know how much us investing in an AFLW team this season has affected the club’s bottom line the past 12 months. I’ll look forward to seeing the figures in the annual report.
Our strong financial position has been built on the back of the men’s team success but given the extensive expenses required to get the women’s team up & going it must have had a fair impact financially.
Not to mention the fact that the only reason so much money is required for Inevitable Punt Road expansion (not even 10 years after is redevelopment) is due to having to house the AFLW side. It’s a key reason the club was reluctant to exit the lure of gaming revenue no doubt.
Along with the money pit expansion teams of GC & GWS, did the AFL leave itself financially vulnerable due to the AFLW being such a large capital outlay?
it won’t go down well if they have to can that competition given it’s now a few years in, but given it’s not yet profitable or professional, there must be some hard questions being asked about whether it can survive this health crisis.
Like the sentiment of a combined Saint Roos but prefer them to be in Tassie who want and deserve a team

Just remember we have also diversified into running leisure centres. All of these now would effectively be closed with no money coming in for those at all. This will be a massive impact on the bottom line for Richmond.
Those clubs including our which make money from Pokies in club will be hemorrhaging as all of these clubs would be closed.
